Roseobacter litoralis Och 149 was collected from seaweed and isolated by direct plating. R. litoralis is the type species of the genus Roseobacter and eponymous for the Roseobacter clade. R. litoralis has a complex genomic structure, including three linear and three covalently closed circular plasmids.
